What We're Up To

OUR FIRST DAY by Alba
It's fun reminiscing about the good old days we had back then especially our first day of class. Well, it started when the list of our name was released. Everyone was forming a whatsapp group for their own class so that it would be easy to get to know each other online and spread any important information. Yet our group was so quiet, and it felt awkward to break the ice. However, Hafiy, the clown of the class, started the conversation and it went on continuously.
It was our first day of class, and everyone agreed to gather and went to class together. The boys were like “Bro where are you? We’re downstairs already.” The girls, as usual, were busy with their morning routine, putting on makeup and everything.
Our first class was on Monday at 12p.m. and it was the reading class, which was conducted by Ms Ummu, our forever-beloved mentor. She was very funny and warm, reducing our nerves at the moment. Next, we were divided into groups and were given a task to complete. That was the time where we informally got to know to each other. There were two class representatives; the first one is Risya and she was the main class rep. Another one was Yuya; the Reading Class Rep. Oh and we got Qistina as our vice class rep.
Next class was Literature. It was conducted by Madam Syahreena. She was undeniably gorgeous and stunning. After class, Nadiah, suggested us to have a photography session; as a memory of our first day.
Finally, the day ended. We had fun with the ice breaking session, and to sum it all up, our first day is definitely a day to be remembered for it is where our journey begins.
CSS EVENT by Risya

For our CSS event management assessment, we decided to set up an Escape Room challenge based on “Examination Day”, one of the short stories we studied in Literature class. Albeit the many obstacles we faced during the pre-event planning phase, we’re proud to say that everything went smoothly during the day itself!
It was a whole day affair, and we arrived at 8.15am to ensure everything was in check. We had already set up the room the day before, so the bulk of the work had already been done. Then at 9am the teams started showing up to begin playing. Basically, we’d have a briefer to explain the storyline and rules to the teams and escort them to the room. Once the door is closed, they have 45 minutes to find their way out. The room was well-structured (and difficult) enough. Some teams made it, some didn’t- but everyone was a great sport and said they greatly enjoyed what we had set up. Winners were dubbed “Heroes of Precinct T16” and received a neat little button badge and well, bragging rights.
Despite the various setbacks, it was all in all a wonderful experience for the entire class. We could not have pulled it off without each other.
LITERATURE EXHIBITION by Izzah
The literature exhibition is an annual event conducted by the TESL students as a part of our ongoing assessment. Our class held it on a Monday since that is when our schedule is the least packed. Basically, we all gathered at the ‘Bilik Bacaan’ with our group mates before 8 a.m. to set up our respective booths. Since we shared the hall with 4 other classes, it was quite packed with people. Our class setup booths varying from feminism, romanticism, to the spirit of nationalism and many many more! After 8 a.m, quite a few had started to visit the exhibition hall and before we knew it, it was a full house. Each group had visitors — students from various courses and lecturers came to visit. We has to explain the elements of the poems that we chose to showcase and this is the fun part, you get to interact with so many people! Some groups decided to get creative by dressing up or giving treats to their visitors.
We left our booth for a while to go to our reading class that was at 12 p.m. but other than that, we were all stuck and confined in that exhibition hall, explaining nonstop to the visitors for HOURS.
Gradually, the moments we have all been waiting for had arrived! We were finally assessed by our beloved literature lecturer, Madam Syahreena at 4 p.m. Exhaustion was seen in everyone’s face by that time but we had fun explaining to Madam and slowly the tense shoulders were then deflated because, we were done with our Lit exhibition! It was super tiring to prepare for the event but we managed to ace it. It was such a nice experience to go through, truly one of a kind!

RISYA by Scha
It’s gonna be a long paragraph if it is about this girl. She is not just beautiful, but she does have brains. In other words, she is a‘beauty with brain’. We like her confidence ever since the first day of class here. She volunteered to be the class representative. At first, we questioned, ‘ Can a girl be the leader?’. But she managed to prove that we were wrong. She is the epitome of a great female leader. Yeah, GIRL POWER!
Another thing that is great about her is that she is one of the top 10% over 480 TESL students in UiTM Dengkil. We have always known that she would make it. Her academic achievements are great. She did well in Mid Term Examination and has become the role model for our classmates. We love her!
I hope her achievement will become the catalyst for us to strive harder and excel in the Final Exam.
OUR SHENANIGANS
by Dee
T16 is full of goofballs. The most iconic thing we do is play the “Guess the word” game. I don’t really know the name of the game so I just made it up. Although I have never participated in this activity, I do enjoy watching my classmates joking around with each other. How do they play this game? One of the classmates will start by giving a sentence that contains one wrong word, so the others need to guess the exact word. Then it continues that way until everyone gets sick of laughing. As you can see, although we don’t have as many pictures as other classes have, I always believe that our class has the most amazing bond. To be honest, throughout this whole semester together, we never really got into any big fights with each other, as we are able to talk things through if we have any misunderstandings. The laughter, the joy , the memories that we share together, will always remain in our minds and our hearts. My whole semester was much better because of you guys.
